Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Blowin' like it's gonna sweep my world away
1
I'm gonna stop in Carbondale and keep on going
That Duquesne train gonna ride me night and day

You say I'm a gambler, you say I'm a pimp
But I ain't neither one
2
Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Sound like it's on its final run
3

Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Blowin' like she never blowed before
Blue light blinkin', red light glowin'
Blowin' like she's at my chamber door
4

You smiling through the fence at me
Just like you've always smiled before
Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Blowin' like she ain't gonna blow no more
5

Can't you hear that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Blowin' like the sky's gonna blow apart
6
You're the only thing alive that keeps me going
You're like a time bomb in my heart
7

I can hear a sweet voice gently calling
Must be the Mother of our Lord
8
Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Blowin' like my woman's on board

Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Blowin' like it's gonna blow my blues away
9
You ole rascal, I know exactly where you're going
I'll lead you there myself at the break of day
10
I wake up every mornin' with that woman in my bed
Everybody telling me she's gone to my head
11Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Blowin' like it's gonna kill me dead
12

Can't you hear that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Blowin' through another no good town
13
The lights of my native land are glowin'
14
I wonder if they'll know me next time around
15

I wonder if that old oak tree's still standin'
That old oak tree, the one we used to climb
Listen
to that Duquesne whistle blowin'
Blowin' like
she's blowin' right on time 16

Duquesne Whistle

Something's going on. It's coming on strong. When you listen, its distant resonance sounds close. It was a slow train comin' but not anymore.

1 In absolute truth this world will be hit hard and swept over in wrath and judgment. That Day is coming.

2 False accusation comes against those who announce such things. They will suspect you of false motives or immorality when they just want to believe you are just like them; immoral. This kind of stuff intensifies and makes you cry out for the Day when He returns.

3 You can see that Day approaching. You pray come quickly, Lord Jesus. 4 For you, that sound is close, imminent, and personal. 5 You know that return will usher in the final event throughout the whole wide world. His massive intervention will not happen this way ever again. When that final trumpet sounds, it will be final.

6 It's amazing to consider the truth that the same Power on high that will split the sky and roll it like a scroll, is the same Power whose Spirit indwells believers and will instantly transform them or raise them from the dead. 7 Again, it is an imminent expectation.

8 There are sweet voices in heaven or out of heaven. Mary's is such a voice. Accept it. She is the glorified Mother of God. It's time to be excited about that truth and contemplate it. She would say to keep looking for her Son to come from heaven who was raised from the dead, Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come. She wants us to focus on Him. There will be plenty of time to fellowship with her. But during our pilgrimage here for such a short time longer, she says to focus on Him and look for His return. That's the sweet message I believe she would send, and it's a powerful message, too. This train is resonating with that message. Just listen.

9 The blues come from significant loss, especially loss of that significant other. But when the air flows fast and strong through the valves and the pipes the sound will be certain and its note will resonate a call. It will be a call upward where all of the chosen will go in a flash. Then the blues will be forever gone as we see the Groom and our loved ones who are part of the Bride face to face. 10 (Yeah, I figured it out, with my cheeky grin and all. You got me. And please do go on ahead. I insist.)

So, the train is coming fast.
11 Putting anyone else before Jesus can mess your mind up. Putting Jesus first makes you love them right. 12 But it may require some dying as we listen, dying daily, dying to self to live to God.

13 This whistle blazes a rail through one place after another and they don't hear it. They don't want to hear it. It would be too blinding and loud on the conscience.

14 This whistle lights up the land where it came from and where it's going. It's getting brighter there with so much focus there because the train will stop there. The time of God's next visitation to Jerusalem will be embraced. 15 In the glare of the light it'll be Bob, but with such an appearance in such a majestic setting you might not notice him at first. I think he would want it that way, but he'll warmly welcome your fellowship just the same.

16 Your days are numbered and so are mine. Those special memories of events and places in your mind that seem so looming yet gone should remind you of how fleeting life is. Where did the years go? This train has picked up speed indeed. This truth should move you to rearrange your priorities, to think carefully about God, to make sure you are in a real relationship with Jesus, God's Son, who bled and died on the cross and rose again for your sins. Before anything else passes on by or passes away, receive Him into your heart; believe on His Name from your heart as your put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as your own personal Savior from your own sins, and you know they have been many. But you can know God's forgiveness from any sins by calling on Christ by faith to save you. If you do, He will save you forever. It will be eternal life and the gift of His grace (unmerited favor) alone. Then you will want to thank Him for it and rejoice at the sound of His voice through His Word, the Bible. The Gospel of John is a great place to begin reading carefully while there is still time.

God has everything under control. His timing is perfect. A stage is being set. Nations to the north. Rulers to the east. The focus is on Israel and especially Jerusalem. The believer's departure is imminent. Then the judgments fall. Then the pseudo peace. Then wrath under a red sky. Then we return with Him, at just the right time.

Let me say it again, even if it is the eighth time. Even as the steam engine keeps in time. Even as those coupling rods race. Even as the roar of the locomotive bellows out its call over and over again.

Listen.

THE RECORD

1 For just like the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. For in those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark. And they knew nothing until the flood came and took them all away. It will be the same at the coming of the Son of Man.

Matthew 24:37-39

2 So they are astonished when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you. They will face a reckoning before Jesus Christ who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

I Peter 4:4-5

3 For the day is near, the day of the Lord is near; it will be a day of storm clouds, it will be a time of judgment for the nations.

Ezekiel 30:3

4 The time of judgment is about to arrive! The time of retribution is imminent! Let Israel know!

Hosea 9:7

5 For then there will be great suffering unlike anything that has happened from the beginning of the world until now, or ever will happen.

Matthew 24:21

6 The sky was split apart like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

Revelation 6:14

7 But our citizenship is in heaven – and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform these humble bodies of ours into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself.

Philippians 3:20-21

8 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She exclaimed with a loud voice, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child in your womb! And who am I that the mother of my Lord should come and visit me? For the instant the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that what was spoken to her by the Lord would be fulfilled.” And Mary said, “My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Savior, because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant. For from now on all generations will call me blessed, because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name; from generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him. He has demonstrated power with his arm; he has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts. He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position; he has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy, as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.” So Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months and then returned to her home.

Luke 1:41-56

9 Those whom the Lord has ransomed will return that way. They will enter Zion with a happy shout. Unending joy will crown them, happiness and joy will overwhelm them; grief and suffering will disappear.

Isaiah 35:10

Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also we believe that God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep as Christians. For we tell you this by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely not go ahead of those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be suddenly caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

I Thessalonians 4:13-18

10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. And do this because we know the time, that it is already the hour for us to awake from sleep, for our salvation is now nearer than when we became believers. The night has advanced toward dawn; the day is near. So then we must lay aside the works of darkness, and put on the weapons of light. Let us live decently as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in discord and jealousy. Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to arouse its desires.

Romans 13:10-14

11 Now large crowds were accompanying Jesus, and turning to them he said, “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:25-27

12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

Romans 8:12-14

13 Then Jesus began to criticize openly the cities in which he had done many of his miracles, because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you! And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be thrown down to Hades! For if the miracles done among you had been done in Sodom, it would have continued to this day. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you!

Matthew 11:20-24

14 "Arise! Shine! For your light arrives! The splendor of the Lord shines on you! For, look, darkness covers the earth and deep darkness covers the nations, but the Lord shines on you; his splendor appears over you. Nations come to your light, kings to your bright light."

Isaiah 60:1-3

15 Now this is what I am saying, brothers and sisters: Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I will tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

I Corinthians 15:50-52

16 "O Lord, help me understand my mortality
and the brevity of life!
Let me realize
how quickly my life will pass!
Look, you make
my days short-lived,
and
my life span is nothing from your perspective.
Surely all people, even those who seem secure,
are nothing but vapor.
Surely people go through life as mere ghosts.
Surely they accumulate worthless wealth
without knowing who will eventually haul it away."
But now, O Lord, upon what am I relying?
You are my only hope!

Psalm 39:4-7

The one who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!

Revelation 22:20

But Jesus was silent. The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” Jesus said to him, “You have said it yourself. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Matthew 26:63-64
